We should learn from Cuba says New Orleans mayor

When it comes to hurricane disaster response New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, during his recent six-day trip to Cuba, said the U.S. should learn from the socialist island. Nagin acknowledged Cuba does “a much better job than we do.”

On Aug. 17, the Nouri al-Maliki government expressed backing for a national referendum next January on the U.S.-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) reached late last year. U.S. officials were caught unawares, according to the Washington Post, because the Parliament had failed so far to implement the referendum that lawmakers had advanced as a condition for supporting the SOFA.

Recently, a 20-year-old American, Din Dona Thin, took an American Airlines flight from Miami to La Paz, Bolivia. She declared to Bolivian customs officials that she was bringing “cheese” into the country, but a search of her luggage turned up five boxes of ammunition, each box containing 100 .45-caliber bullets.
